The "Why Chores and Rules"Portion

Kids listen to this portion of the compact disk and hear the reasons why it is important that they do chores and do them well. (Example: why they need to do chores that they don't like to do.) They also hear why family rules are important. (Example: why it is important for them to go to bed on time – and stay there!)

It is our hope that hearing this material from outside the family will lend support to parents and their efforts to convince their kids of the necessity of chores and rules.

This portion of the CD is the last portion, so that when it is finished the CD will turn off. (Kids will not be interested in the section on Parenting Dialogue.)

The PARENTING DIALOGUE Portion

This portion is first on the CD. It is what we call a "Reminder Message". Our intent is to help you remember some of the key principles of dialogue and its power in developing a healthy, influential, and functional relationship with your children.

Nothing is as important as your relationship with each of your children. It is the key to everything powerful that can go on between you. A strong, loving relationship is built out of understanding and safety. Dialogue is the type of talking that is safe and builds trust, helps teach important things, and resolves problems. It is critical to dialogue before attempting discussion and problem–solving.
