Q & A As questions are asked via email or phone, answers will be posted here. So far, none have been asked. If you have one, please email Dick Wulf. Please give a little more information about what you mean by "dysfunctional families." The term "dysfunctional families" is a general term for families that have something missing for raising children who grow up secure and able to have healthy interactions with other people. For example, a home where the parents are always critical will produce some kids who doubt themselves when they could have self-confidence. While a few kids from that home might figure out that their parents are wrong in their negativity, some of the kids will not adjust in a healthy way. In the least, the ones with sufficient harm to their sense of self-worth will lack in confidence and not function to their capability. But, it might end up worse. They might join a gang to feel valued and affirmed. They may resort to drugs. They may resort to crime as easier than facing a regular job. And, these are possible results only from an overly critical home, one of the least dysfunctional types of families. Child abuse is worse and breeds anger that can lead to violent crimes. To list all of the ways that families can destroy the success of children would take pages and pages. So, I hope that this helps.
