Dialogue to Plan a Great Holiday Season
© 2011 Dick Wulf, MSW, LCSW, Colorado Springs, Colorado
Everybody answers before going on to next item. Before going to another person, ask lots of questions like, "Why?" and "What do you mean?" and other questions out of curiosity (never criticism).
What do you like best about the holiday season beginning with Thanksgiving and ending with New Years Day?
Who likes to decorate our home for the holidays? How much time do we each want to give to decorating? Do we need to simplify decorating to have time for other things?
What does each of us like to do best during the holidays? How can we plan the holidays so that everyone gets to do a little of what they like best?
How can we save money during the holidays? What kinds of fun things can we do that do not cost a lot of money?
Do we want to bake during the holidays? Who wants to be involved in baking?
Would we like to do something helpful for someone in need this holiday season? How can we raise any money needed?
What problems do we need to solve in order to have a great holiday season?
Do we want to play games during the holidays? Which ones?
Do we want to invite people over to our house?
Can we make some presents for others and save money?
Would anyone like to be in charge of planning one holiday evening? Or two?
How do we want to celebrate Thanksgiving?
How do we want to celebrate Christmas?
What do we want to do on New Year's Eve?
What do we want to do on New Year's Day?
Who wants to make a new year's resolution and the family's help to accomplish it?
